The camera preview is blank

Open iPhone Settings, find DanceTake, and allow Camera access. On recent iOS versions, apps are listed under Settings > Apps.

Return to DanceTake. If the preview remains blank, close and reopen the app. If access is restricted by Screen Time or device management, check those restrictions as well.

The countdown hasn't started

Keep your iPhone upright and steady, use good lighting, and step back so your head, shoulders, knees, and ankles are visible. Follow the direction cue and leave extra space for movement.

Red means continue adjusting. Yellow is usable and starts after roughly 2.5 seconds of steady framing; green uses a shorter hold of roughly 1.25 seconds. Significant movement during the countdown sends you back to framing.

This is guidance before recording, not continuous camera tracking or a guarantee that every dance move will stay in frame.

Recording without a reference or microphone

Music and reference videos are optional. Without a reference, Microphone access lets you record the sound around you. If access is unavailable, use the option to continue without sound.

With a selected audio/video source, the finished take uses its original audio track. That includes any speech or counting already in the file; DanceTake does not isolate the music.

A source video won't import

If the video is stored in iCloud, open it in Photos and allow the download to finish before selecting it again. For Files, make sure the file is downloaded and accessible.

Check free storage on your iPhone. DanceTake needs space for an imported copy and the finished recording. Try a local, playable audio or video file; streaming-service links and protected downloads aren't source files.

Saving or finding a take

Finished takes remain in the Takes tab even if you haven't saved them to Photos. Open a take to play it, save it, or share it.

If saving is denied, allow photo-saving access for DanceTake in Settings. You don't need to grant access to your entire photo library just to export a take.

Watermark-free exports and Restore Purchase

Free exports have a DanceTake watermark during the last 5 seconds. Clips shorter than 5 seconds have the watermark throughout.

Tap the watermark notice below Save to Photos to open DanceTake Pro. It is a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks watermark-free saving and sharing—not a subscription.

If you've already purchased it, use Restore Purchase on that page with the same Apple Account used for Media & Purchases. An internet connection is needed to contact the App Store. For a pending purchase, wait for Apple's approval before trying again.

Pro doesn't alter a copy you've already exported. Open the locally stored take and export it again after Pro is unlocked.

Clearing storage without losing originals

Use swipe-to-delete or selection mode in Takes to remove a collection or individual recordings. Deleting a collection removes its recordings; it doesn't delete the original source from Photos or Files.

About & Privacy has a control to delete imported media copies without deleting your finished takes. You'll need to select those sources again if you want to reuse them.

Delete App removes DanceTake's local data. Offload App keeps documents and data. Neither removes copies you've already saved to Photos or shared elsewhere. Save anything you want to keep before deleting the app.

Languages and recording quality

The app supports English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. In iPhone Settings, open DanceTake and select Language if that setting is shown. Other unsupported app languages fall back to English.

Recording defaults to 720p at 30 fps. The camera settings offer only the resolutions and frame rates supported by the current iPhone and camera.

Current feature scope

DanceTake now focuses on pose-guided recording and original-audio syncing. TV casting, side-by-side practice, and beat analysis are not included in this version.
